Hybrid Medium Access Control Protocol for Radio-Over-Fiber Networks

چکیده
The oncoming Internet-of-things (IoT) applications and smart machine-to-machine (M2M) communication lead to an enormous increase in network traffic. To meet the escalating demands of these time-critical applications, we need a hybrid optical-wireless network, for which radio-over-fiber (RoF) technology is promising candidate. These networks support stringent delay requirements above large number mobile users. However, existing user registration identification approaches are not efficient high density cannot keep overall mean within permissible limit such applications. In this article, present medium access control (MAC) protocol RoF propose neighbor-aware algorithms density. Further, MAC uses gated polling method data transfer. Moreover, analytical model protocol, gives end-to-end considering We verify it with results obtained from simulations. Finally, evaluate packet loss rate proposed by varying load, density, fiber length benchmark performance algorithm state-of-the-art (SoA).

Medium Access Control in Cognitive Radio Networks
Cognitive radio (CR) is seen as one of the enabling technologies for realizing a new regulatory spectrum management paradigm, viz. opportunistic spectrum sharing (OSS). In the OSS paradigm, unlicensed users (a.k.a. secondary users) opportunistically operate in fallow licensed spectrum on a non-interference basis to licensed users (a.k.a. incumbent or primary users). Incumbent users have absolut...
متن کاملA Medium Access Control Protocol for Radio over Fiber Wireless LAN operating in the 60-GHz Band
Radio over fiber (RoF) technology has been suggested as a cost-effective solution to meet modern ever increasing user bandwidth demands and mobility. A system based on this technology has properties quite different from those of conventional WLAN systems in that every room in a building hosts at least one picocell having its own base station (BS). Thus a challenging problem lies in the medium a...
متن کاملMedium Access Cooperations for Improving VoIP Capacity over Hybrid 802.16/802.11 Cognitive Radio Networks
There are some existing works that study the coexistence of 802.16 and 802.11 networks. However, not many of them consider the resource allocation issues in the case of delivering traffic between mobile stations and Internet users through an access point (AP) and a base station (BS) which operate at the same frequency band. In this paper, we design a cooperation mechanism for 802.16 and 802.11 ...
متن کاملMedium Access Control Design for Cognitive Radio Networks: A Survey
Designing a medium access control (MAC) protocol is a key for implementing any practical wireless network. In general, a MAC protocol is responsible for coordinating users in accessing spectrum resources. Given that a user in cognitive radio(CR) networks do not have priority in accessing spectrum resources, MAC protocols have to perform dynamic spectrum access (DSA) functions, including spectru...
متن کاملRadio over Fiber for Broadband Wireless Access
Fiber based wireless access systems support high-speed multimedia in real-time by combining the capacity of optical fiber with the flexibility of wireless networks. For example, single subcarrier multiplexed radio-over-fiber (ROF) link can support wireless LAN, cellular radio, and CATV simultaneously. We investigate various issues in this scenario in order to provide a cost-effective, high perf...
